MS Description

Multiscale methods have been recognized as one of the fundamental tools for studying overall constitutive behavior, as well as the damage and failure processes in particular, of heterogeneous or multi-phase structures. This mini-symposium will form a platform for idea exchange and knowledge dissemination concerning the latest developments in the field of multiscale analysis procedures for the damage analysis of concrete and brittle composite materials in general. Topics relevant to the Minisymposium include, but are not limited to, implementations and algorithmic solutions for:

- Homogenization methods

- Multiscale finite element methods

- Scaled Boundary Finite Element Methods

- eXtended finite element methods

- Phase field methods

- Discrete Modeling methods

- Molecular dynamics and coarse grained methods

Contributions pertaining to the implementation of such methods on real-life applications, including high-strength concrete and brittle matrices reinforced with alloys under static and dynamic loading, are especially welcomed.
